On Saturday, September 18, 2010, St. Louis Metro Alumni Chapter Members, plus AKPsi Alumni and Student Brothers, and friends gathered at the Jefferson Avenue Bistro to celebrate the establishment of, and formally launch, the St. Louis Metro Alumni Scholarship.
The event was a big success and served as a fitting launch to our new Chapter Scholarship. It 'did not rain on our parade', even if it did so outside. Students from the Alpha Lambda Chapter, the types of individuals that would benefit from future scholarship grants, attended the event, as did Paul Bailey, treasurer of the board of directors of the AKPsi Foundation, who visited St. Louis to help us launch our scholarship.
Here are two photos: one showing the official unveiling of the Scholarship (by member Cindy Washington), the other a group shot of the party attendees.
More photos of this event can be found at the Chapter's Facebook page photo album.
Due to the generosity of our fellow brothers, we have already raised money towards the future endowment of our Scholarship. Thank you for your help in aiding the education of future business leaders!
Please visit the Scholarship page of our website, and consider making a donation.
Additionally, we congratulate our chapter president, Darin Schuld, who was surprised by a special presentation, during the formal program. Darin was presented with the AKPsi Distinguished Service Award-Silver Degree, in recognition for his service to our Chapter and to Alpha Kappa Psi. The DSA is the most prestigious award conferred upon brothers of AKPsi. There are three degrees of the award: bronze, silver, and gold. Darin was presented his award by fellow chapter member Ken Hastey, a past Gold DSA recipient. Congratulations Darin!
